Pimping my porridge!

Has anyone else forgotten how nice porridge is???

I made it this week for the first time in ages, because I get fed up feeling 'bad mum vibes' when I see my son tucking into his favourite sugary cereal. To be fair he loves porridge, so from now on, I plan to take the extra 10 minutes once a week to slow down and make some.

Here’s the basic recipe I use, but anything goes when it comes to pimping your porridge!

80g porridge oats

275ml milk (any that works for you)

275ml water

1/2 tsp cinnamon

Optional - Banana, blueberries, a blob of peanut butter, a few choc chips, a spoonful of chia seeds and a drizzle of maple syrup.

Place the oats, milk, water and cinnamon into a large saucepan, stir well and bring to the boil, then turn down to a simmer. Stir over this heat for a few minutes until the porridge is as thick as you like it. Then spoon into your favourite bowl and add the toppings of your choice.
